MDL Manufacturing Industries Inc. has signed an IDIQ letter with (GDLS) General Dynamics Land System for M1 Abrams Tank parts.

Last month, MDL Manufacturing signed a 3 year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Long Term pricing Agreement (LTA) for an Abrams Affordability Program consisting of a US and Kuwait Programs. These programs are estimated to include 499+ Abrams vehicles over 3 years. The first two Programs are awarded already and vehicle deliveries will begin in 1st quarter of 2018.

Along with serving our ultimate customer, the soldier, we consider this recent IDIQ award to be a significant business opportunity for MDL and our suppliers.

MDL has been supplying M1 Abrams components to the US Military for over 20 years and to GDLS for nearly 10 years. If all options are exercised total sales for this program are expected to be 1.1 million over a 3 year period.

“It’s a very small portion of our total 8 million in sales expected in 2017,” says Doug Lingsch, founder of MDL, “but a welcome slice of business none the less.”

It’s good to see defense and other industries on the uptick and Lingsch is very optimistic about the coming months and years. Along with defense and space, MDL produces components for industries including, railcars, subway tracks, bridge components, construction equipment and the oil and gas industries.

MDL will celebrate its 30th anniversary on October 1st 2017. It was 30 years ago from this day Lingsch first opened his one-man weld shop with two welding machines in a small 1000 square foot warehouse. One of Lingsch’s first jobs was welding small aluminum electronics boxes for F-16 fighters.
